When a couple separates, the experience can be immensely painful. But when a former spouse is no longer religious, the situation can be exponentially more daunting. At Pathways, we work to provide assistance and direction to those navigating the legal system while divorcing a spouse who has or is leaving the frum community, ר"ל.

We empower members with access to resources and information, so that they can make choices that are good and right for them and their children, in accordance with Torah values and hashkafos. We partner with nonprofit legal organizations. We train attorneys to provide culturally competent legal support to our members. We also connect our members with a network of pro and low-bono attorneys.

Pathways also works to establish a foundation of legal precedents that will lead to better outcomes in future custody proceedings for those whose former spouses have left the faith. By providing pro-bono and low-bono attorneys to represent parents who had often previously been forced by economic circumstances into representing themselves, Pathways hopes to build a history of legal rulings that support the rights of ehrliche, Torah-observant people to parent according to their own values—the ones in which they embarked at the onset of their former marriage.

Our years of research into family courts reveal hidden funding dynamics and how the system actually functions. We've learned from attorneys, court documents, and litigants what truly works. Our uniquely independent position—accepting no government funding—allows us to advocate without hesitation for what's right.
